Ghana’s very own young, talented emerging designer, Mohammed Jafaru Larry has been selected as one of the five finalists for this year’s Fashion Focus Africa programme organized by the Lagos Fashion Week.

Larry Jay is a unisex ready to wear Ghanaian brand of ethical fashion clothes and accessories officially debuted in 2017 after starting in 2012 as an accessory brand and introducing fashion clothes in 2016.

Fashion Focus Africa is a programme dedicated to the growth and promotion of emerging talent in the fashion industry. It presents unique opportunities for these talents to harness their skills through business development workshops, creative workshops and mentorships.

Since its inception in 2011, Lagos Fashion Week (LFW) seeks to provide the perfect platform to give emerging brands in Nigeria and the diaspora an opportunity to show their talents to the world by enabling up and coming talents harness their skills through organizing creative workshops, business development workshops and mentorship sessions amongst others.

Larry Jay would join other finalists such as Rwanda’s Linda Mukangoga of Haute Baso, Katungulu Mwendwa from Kenya, Nigeria’s Amali Curtis of ILI and IIse-Naolila Teixeira of Naolila from Angola.

The selected finalists will receive support in Business development support, Creative development support, and an opportunity to apply and be a beneficiary of the Fashion Focus Fund 2020 in collaboration with FETS wallet, an opportunity to showcase at the Heineken Lagos Fashion Week 2019 (subject to approval by the Fashion Focus Committee), an opportunity to develop ones samples and produce a capsule collection at the NEPC Human Capital Development Centre.

The five finalists will join past program beneficiaries as the 2018/2019 Fashion Focus Fund recipients.
