Last month, the world’s most awarded whisky brand; Glenfiddich hosted an event like none other for its experiential series at the Balmoral Hall, Federal Palace Hotel. Living up to the theme; Experimental night, they recreated the actual ‘Felabration’ experience on the Island for the second time in a row.
Glenfiddich’s passion and determination for breaking new frontiers were evident in the creation of this phenomenal night. The event had a line-up of distinguished musical acts tagged ‘Maverick challengers’ – Femi Kuti, Seun Kuti, Simi, Adekunle Gold, and The Composers, all known to be trailblazers in the musical industry.
The event was off to a great start with Adekunle Gold performing some of his best songs, including Mr. Foolish, Pick Up, Ariwo ko, Money, Work, and so on. Adding a legendary African twist, he rendered songs like Big Shaq’s ‘Mans Not Hot’, ‘Feeling Good ‘by James Brown, and ‘Issa Goal ‘by Naira Marley.
The talented singer and songwriter Simi delivered an exhilarating performance, as well as The Composers from the UK who came on stage with spot-on performances, they delivered beautiful renditions of songs, ranging from all-time classics to Modern day music.
Musical icon, Femi Kuti, delivered a riveting performance, displaying a mastery of musical instruments, from saxophone to trumpet to the keyboard, he held nothing back. Characteristic of him, he also entertained the audience with his interesting legwork. All blended into a seamless flow of Afrobeat sensation, Seun Kuti also thrilled the crowd with songs from his 2011 album, From Africa to Fury.
The Glenfiddich Maverick Experimental night was Spectacular! It built on the brand’s tradition of innovation and consistently pushing the limits of the consumer experience. Glenfiddich raised the bar with this electrifying show and was indeed a great experience.
