EXPOSED! The Real Story Behind the Skolopad’s Dramatic Naked Yellow Dress at Metro FM Awards 2017 (VIDEO)

I spoke to musician, Nonhlanhla Qwabe, the lady who went viral for her revealing yellow dress on the Metro FM Awards black carpet on Saturday.

Nonhlanhla, a house and kwaito singer, has been trying to break into the entertainment industry since 2014.

The larger than life performer calls herself a “three-in-one lady.” She said: “I’m a mother of a 16-year-old, I’m also a nurse and an artist,” she says.

Yes, you read it correctly! Skolopad, as she is affectionately known, has been practising nursing for eight years.

When asked about the inspiration for her barely there dress she says, “I like revealing myself, because I am the lady that feels comfortable in her own brown skin. That’s why I am always my half-naked self.”

And when you scroll through her social media pages you’ll see she is not shy to show off her butt tattoo either, “It’s the letter ‘Q’ and it stands for queen. I am my own queen,” she told us.

Her dress was custom made by a local designer from the Free State, “My designer told me that he would do a revealing dress for me because I like revealing myself. But during the fitting he asked me if I’m maybe not revealing a little too, much but I told him that I loved it.”

When asked if she was wearing underwear, she said, “Yes, I was wearing underwear. It was a g-string. I told him [the designer] to attached the material to my tummy and cut it open on the thigh. I wanted people to ask. ‘what’s happening here?’

And boy, did she succeed!

“The song is called Umzimba Wakho which translates to “my ass” or “shake your booty.” And it is about being comfortable in your skin and with your body,” she explains.

You can downloaded the track on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. “It is a free download and I want people to know what kind of music I do,” she says.

The musician is currently raising funds to produce a music video for the track. To make a donation you can get in touch with her on social media.
