Razer prototypes stolen at CES

High end gaming computer and hardware manufacturer Razer was out in force at CES, and the company is claiming that two of their prototypes were stolen during the event. They’re not ruling out industrial espionage.

In a post on Facebook, CEO Min-Liang Tan said he was made aware of the theft today and the company has contacted both law enforcement and the organisers of CES.

He added: “At Razer, we play hard and we play fair. Our teams worked months on end to conceptualize and develop these units and we pride ourselves in pushing the envelope to deliver the latest and greatest.

“We treat theft/larceny, and if relevant to this case, industrial espionage, very seriously – it is cheating, and cheating doesn’t sit well with us. Penalties for such crimes are grievous and anyone who would do this clearly isn’t very smart.”

Mr Tan did not specify which devices were taken but Razer unveiled just two designs at CES. Project Ariana, which is a room scale projector and Project Valerie, which is a gaming laptop with three 17-inch monitors, two of which unfold when the laptop is open.
