Gospel artiste, Lady Prempeh, appears to have been rubbed the wrong way by some faceless individuals on social media; so wrong that it has left her virtually screaming “I am not bleaching my skin” to any one who cares to listen.
The Ne Ntaban star has been beside herself over rumours circulating on social media regarding a picture she posted on Facebook, which purported to show the gospel star as one of a long list of celebrities who have bleached their skin to look fairer than they are.
In an interview with Showbiz from her base in Italy, Lady Prempeh, rubbished such claims and said that she would never resort to skin bleaching.
“I have no idea where these stories originated from because I woke up one morning and realised it was all over social media that I am bleaching my skin.
“ I would like to assure my fans that I have never bleached my skin in the past and would never consider doing so. I am still the same Lady Prempeh they know and I will never change. I know the dangers of skin bleaching and I will like to caution all my fans to abstain from it”, she said.
She revealed that the picture at the centre of the controversy was shot using filters hence the lightened appearance of her image.
She questioned why some of the positive things she does are ignored but negative news about her such as this has gained attention all over the media.
“I’m not really surprised because we all know that bad news sells so it’s little wonder that this false information has been picked up all over the country,” she said.
Lady Prempeh, real name, Esther Boateng, who has been absent from the music scene since the latter part of last year, explained that she had been feverishly working on her latest album.
“Since I decided to complete the entire album instead of simply releasing singles, I needed to take the break in order to concentrate fully on it.
This is to ensure that the finished product would be one that will make waves in the country”, she said.
She, however, revealed that her upcoming album would be preceded by a single featuring Nacy, which would be released in July.
She added that the album is still in progress and would be available to the public from September, this year.
Lady Prempeh called on her fans to remain steadfast and continue supporting her with their prayers since she has a lot in store for them.
