The Ghana Dance Awards team is delighted to announce that entry for various categories of the awards scheme will be opened from Monday, January 12 to Tuesday, January 27, 2015.
DANCER(S) who want to be nominated in any of the competitive categories of this prestigious awards scheme are hereby advised to do so by filling a form at the office of Flash Mob Ghana Limited located between TV Africa and Charterhouse, Awudome Estates-Accra during these aforementioned dates.

2015 GHANA DANCE AWARDS COMPETITIVE CATEGORIES DESCRIPTION

OVERALL DANCER OF THE YEAR

The ‘Overall Dancer of the Year’ is the dancer (male or female) adjudged by the Board and the General Public as the dancer who can perform five (5) or more different dances and should have the audience appeal. He/she must have featured in commercial dance which has generated excitement during the year under review.

OVERALL DANCE GROUP OF THE YEAR

The ‘Overall Dance Group of the Year’ is the dance group adjudged by the Board and the General Public as the group that can perform five (5) or more different dances and should have the audience appeal. They must have featured in commercial dance which has generated excitement during the year under review.

BEST MALE DANCER

The ‘Best Male Dancer’ is the Male Dancer adjudged by the Board and the General Public as the Male Dancer who can perform five (5) different dance acts including Street Dance, Cultural, Azonto, African Contemporary and Francophone with audience appeal. He must have featured in commercial dance during the year under review.

BEST FEMALE DANCER

The ‘Best Female Dancer’ is the Female Dancer adjudged by the Board and the General Public as the Female Dancer who can perform five (5) different dance acts including Street Dance, Cultural, Azonto, African Contemporary and Francophone with audience appeal. She must have featured in commercial dance during the year under review.

STREET DANCE GROUP OF THE YEAR

The ‘Street Dance Group of the Year’ is the group adjudged by the Board and the General Public as the group skilled in the various styles of street dance and should have the highest audience appeal. They should comprise of six (6) or more members and must have featured in commercial street dance performance
(s) during the year under review.

CULTURAL DANCE GROUP OF THE YEAR

The ‘Cultural Dance Group of the Year’ is the group adjudged by the Board and the General Public as the group skilled in the various styles of cultural dance and should have the highest audience appeal. They should have featured in commercial cultural dance during the year under review.

BEST B-BOY STYLING

The ‘Best B-Boy Styling’ is the street [hip-hop] dancer adjudged by the Board and the General Public as the dancer skilled in the various b-boying [formerly breakdance] styles and should have the highest audience appeal. He must have performed commercial b-boying moves during the year under review.

BEST MUSIC VIDEO DANCE

The ‘Best Music Video Dance’ is the music video adjudged by the Board as the most creative, well choreographed and entertaining visual representation of any song released during the year under review.

CHOREOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR

The ‘Choreographer of the Year’ is the male or female dance instructor adjudged by the Board and the General Public as the instructor directly responsible for the creation and mentorship of well choreographed dance acts for commercial and/or performance during the year under review.

AZONTO DANCER OF THE YEAR (POPULAR DANCE)

The ‘Azonto Dancer of the Year’ is the popular dance artiste adjudged by the Board and the General Public as the dancer who is skilled in performing any of the Ghanaian popular dances during the year under review.

AZONTO DANCE GROUP OF THE YEAR

The ‘Azonto Dance Group of the Year’ is the popular dance group adjudged by the Nominations Committee and the General Public as the dance group skilled in performing any of the Ghanaian popular dances and must consist of two (2) or more members. They should have performed the popular dance commercially during the year under review.

AFRICAN CONTEMPORARY GROUP OF THE YEAR

The ‘African Contemporary Group of the Year’ is the group adjudged by the Board and the General Public as the group skilled in performing the African contemporary dances. They should have performed the African contemporary dance commercially during the year under review.

FRANCOPHONE DANCE GROUP OF THE YEAR

The ‘Francophone Dance Group of the Year’ s the group adjudged by the Nominations Committee and the General Public as the group skilled in performing the Francophone dance and must consist of two (2) or more members. They should have performed the Francophone dance commercially during the year under review.

BEST SALSA DANCE COUPLE

The ‘Best Salsa Dance Couple’’ is the salsa dance couple adjudged by the Board and the General Public as the duo skilled in the various styles of salsa dance and should have the highest audience appeal. They must comprise of two (2) dancers and must have featured in commercial and/or non-commercial salsa dance during the year under review.

BEST MALE SALSA DANCER

The ‘Best Male Salsa Dancer ‘ is the male salsa dancer adjudged by the Board and the General Public as the male salsa dancer skilled in the various styles of the dance genre and should have the highest audience appeal. He should have featured in commercial and/or non-commercial salsa dance during the year under review.

BEST FEMALE SALSA DANCER

The ‘Best Female Salsa Dancer ‘ is the female salsa dancer adjudged by the Board and the General Public as the female salsa dancer skilled in the various styles of the dance genre and should have the highest audience appeal. She should have featured in commercial and/or non-commercial salsa dance during the year under review.

INTERNATIONAL AFRO DANCE GROUP OF THE YEAR

The ‘International Dance Group of the Year‘ is the dance group adjudged by the Board and the General Public as the one in African Diaspora or on the African continent [excluding Ghana] skilled in any of the various styles of African dance and should have the highest international appeal. They should have featured in commercial and/or non-commercial African dance during the year under review.

GOSPEL DANCE GROUP OF THE YEAR

The ‘Gospel Dance Group of the Year” is the dance group adjudged by the Board and the General Public as one skilled in performing well choreographed dance for Gospel music and should have the highest audience appeal. The group should have featured in commercial and/or non-commercial Gospel dance during the year under review.

BEST MALE CULTURAL DANCER

The ‘Best Male Cultural Dancer’ is the Male Dancer adjudged by the Board and the General Public as the Male Dancer who is skilled in any of the various cultural dance styles and should have a high audience appeal. He must have featured in commercial dance in this area during the year under review.

BEST FEMALE CULTURAL DANCER

The ‘Best Female Cultural Dancer’ is the Female Dancer adjudged by the Board and the General Public as the Female Dancer who is skilled in any of the various cultural dance styles and should have a high audience appeal. She must have featured in commercial dance in this area during the year under review.
